Technique: straight to the glass / Glass: coupe ou nick & nora / Type: short drink (8cl) / Time: 3 mn
Pour the Cognac, maraschino and Angostura bitters directly into a glass.
Stir with a mixing spoon.
This recipe is the original version of the Corpse Reviver, made with brandy, maraschino and Angostura Bitters. Other completely different versions emerged later (notably the Corpse Reviver no. 2) but this recipe is the first to appear, in the 1870s, with the difference that Angostura Bitters here replaces the original Boker's Bitters because it has ceased to be produced.
This Corpse Reviver can be enjoyed as a digestif and at room temperature, so it can be made very simply, directly from the glass.
