About
The Grasshopper originated in the United States in the 1910s, and its invention is generally attributed to a bartender named Joe Gilmore, who worked at Tujague's Restaurant in New Orleans. The story goes that Joe Gilmore created the cocktail in response to a challenge. During a competition held at his bar, he was tasked with creating a drink using mint liqueur, a popular liqueur at the time. The result was the Grasshopper, an inventive cocktail that combined mint liqueur with white chocolate and cream, creating a drink that was both sweet and refreshing.
