About
The history of the Champagne Cup dates back to 19th century England, where the tradition of "cups" was very popular in clubs and high society salons. Inspired by exotic punches brought back from India, cups were light blends of wine, spirits, fruits and plants, often served in carafes or large glasses to be shared.
The Champagne Cup is a more refined version of these drinks, where sparkling wine replaces the still wine or beer used in other cups, such as the famous Pimm's Cup. Very popular in British and French high society, this cocktail quickly became a classic of grand receptions and aristocratic banquets.
Today, it remains a staple of elegant celebrations and comes in several variations according to preferences and seasons.
