History

The Tequila sunrise is a classic cocktail composed of tequila, orange juice and grenadine syrup, it is one of the most famous and appreciated cocktails. This famous "Tequila orange grenadine" is made directly by the glass and its ingredients being basic, its realization is within everyone's reach.

Tequila Sunrise was created in the 1930s by Gene Sulit, a bartender at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, capital of Arizona in the United States. At that time the Tequila Sunrise was a bit complex, it was composed of tequila, lime juice, grenadine, crème de cassis and sparkling water.

The modern recipe has been simplified, it is now simply composed of tequila, orange juice, and a dash of grenadine syrup which will create a nice gradient and give full meaning to the name of this cocktail.

The Tequila Sunrise has now become so famous that it has created a new family of cocktails: the "sunrises". Indeed any spirit becomes "sunrise" when orange juice and grenadine syrup are added.
