History

The Black Velvet cocktail is a cocktail that offers an original combination of brown beer and Champagne in equal parts.

It is said to have been created by the bartender of Brooks's Club in London in mid-December 1861, it would have been served while the country was in mourning following the death of Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria. The bartender had decided that even champagne should wear mourning, this improbable mixture later became very famous, and far beyond the borders.
