About

Black Velvet was invented in 1861 at Brooks’s Club in London, a renowned gentlemen’s club. It was reportedly created by the club’s bartender to mourn the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband.

The idea was for the dark colour of the mixture to reflect national mourning, while still maintaining a touch of elegance with the Champagne. Since then, Black Velvet has become an iconic cocktail, loved as much for its history as for its rich, balanced taste.
