History

The Spritz is one of the new classic IBA cocktails, it originates from Italy. The real Spritz recipe is always composed of Prosecco, Aperol and sparkling water.

Aperol was born shortly after 1912, when brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri took over the family liquor company in Padua, an Italian city near Venice. The term "Aperol" is also taken from the French word "Apéro".

Around the 1950s, the Spritz recipe began to emerge, and the reputation of this Wine-Based Aperitif (ABV) then grew very quickly in Italy.
