The world record for the price of a bottle of whiskey was therefore broken, it was within the framework of an auction in Hong Kong organized by the Sotheby's group that a Scotch whiskey exploded the counters.
As Le Figaro recently reported, this bottle of whiskey sold for no less than 681,850 dollars, or around 504,000 euros! This 6 liter bottle contains a Macallan pure malt Scottish whiskey from the rare "Imperiale M Decanters" vintage, but that's not just what justifies its price...
Indeed, the particularity of this bottle is not only the whiskey it contains, but also the bottle itself. The container was designed by the prestigious French master glassmaker and jeweler Lalique. A Macallan spokesperson said that 17 craftsmen and at least 50 hours of work are required to produce a single bottle.
The old record
The last bottle of whiskey holding the price record was already a Macallan, it had been sold for 460,000 dollars or almost 340,000 euros.
