5 cl scotch whisky
3 cl hot water
1 tsp sugar

How to make

👉 throwing / 🥃 old-fashioned / 🍸 short drink (8cl) / ⏱️ 4 mn
  1. Put the whiskey and hot water in a stainless steel beaker.

  2. Inflame the contents (tilt the cup to avoid any burns).

  3. Take a second cup and transfer the flaming contents from one cup to the other 4 to 5 times (see video below).

  4. Pour into an old fashioned glass.

  5. Add a teaspoon of powdered sugar and lemon zest to the glass.

For obvious reasons, do not make this cocktail if you are not a trained bartender who works in optimal safety conditions!

This is the original recipe for the Blue Blazer cocktail as published in 1862 by its creator Jerry Thomas in "Bartenders Guide: How to mix drinks" . Jerry Thomas tells us that this cocktail does not have a very classic or melodious name, but it tastes better on the palate than it sounds on the ear. He also specifies that it is necessary to train well with cold water in order to be able to successfully decant without damage.
