About

The history of Sangria goes back centuries. Its exact origin is uncertain, but it is believed to derive from a tradition that is over 2,000 years old, dating back to Roman times. When the Romans invaded the Iberian Peninsula, they planted vineyards and promoted the consumption of wine.

At that time, drinking water was not always reliable, and it was common to mix wine with fruits, spices and honey to mask any unpleasant tastes and disinfect the liquid. This alcoholic mixture is a distant ancestor of the Sangria we know today.
