History

The Daïquiri cocktail is said to have been born in Cuba around 1897. American workers, including mining engineer Jennings Cox, were working in Cuba when one day they decided to concoct their own cocktail using local products, this is how the cocktail would have been born. Daiquiri is the name of the beach located near Santigo de Cuba.

When Robert Vermeire published "Cocktails: How to mix them" in 1922, the Daiquiri was made with grenadine and not sugar syrup.
