History

The Buck's Fizz cocktail is said to have been created in 1921 by Pat McGarry at Buck's Club in London, hence the name of the cocktail.

You may come across Buck's Fizz recipes with grenadine syrup, but that's not the case. The original recipe calls for 2 parts champagne to 1 part orange juice, and the first three publication of the recipe in 1930 ("Savoy Cocktail Book" by Harry Craddock), 1936 ("Artistry of Mixing Drinks" by Frank Meier ) then 1937 ("Cafe Royal Cocktail Book" by W. J. Tarling) does not include grenadine syrup in any way.

The composition of Buck's Fizz is identical to that of the Mimosa cocktail, which is made with equal parts of Champagne and orange juice.
