About
The Godfather is said to have originated in the 1970s, a period when cocktails based on whiskey and liqueur were very popular. Its name comes directly from the film The Godfather, an adaptation of Mario Puzo's novel, featuring the Corleone family and its criminal affairs.
Legend has it that Marlon Brando, the legendary actor who plays Don Vito Corleone, was a great fan of this drink. The Amaretto, of Italian origin, is said to have reinforced the idea of a cocktail with Sicilian accents, perfectly in line with the universe of the film. However, there is no formal proof that Brando really influenced the creation of this cocktail, but the coincidence was enough to make it a myth.
