History

The Añejo Highball cocktail is said to have been created by the famous mixologist Dale DeGroff in New York in the 1990s.

This cocktail pays homage to the Cuban bartenders of the 1920s and 1930s, the period of prohibition in the United States during which Americans traveled to Cuba to drink cocktails in particular.

Dale DeGroff is said to have said that making añejo highballs illustrates how necessary it is for a bartender to understand the role that each ingredient plays in a recipe, the Añejo Highball indeed offers a very rich blend of flavors in a perfect match.
