History

The Pimm's Cup is a long drink from the Cups family, drinks that were very popular in the 19th century and were served like punches, in a large bowl or pitcher and generously composed of fruit.

Pimm's is a brand of liqueur that was created in 1840 by James Pimm, who is said to be the originator of the Pimm's Cup.

Pimm's existed in 6 varieties (from No. 1 to No. 6), each with a different base spirit. Today, the only survivors are No. 1 and 6, respectively based on gin and vodka, Pimm's from No. 2 to No. 5 have ceased to be produced.

Lemon soda is sometimes replaced with lemon juice and ginger ale. Although this is not the original recipe, feel free to do so if you prefer.
