About
The Milano-Torino was born in the 1860s, at a time when Italy was developing a strong aperitivo culture. Its name refers to the cities where its main ingredients originated:
- Milan (Milano), where Campari is produced, the iconic red liqueur made from herbs and citrus peels created by Gaspare Campari in 1860.
- Turin (Torino), the birthplace of red vermouth, a wine flavored with spices and herbs, popularized by houses like Carpano and Martini & Rossi.
This cocktail was first served at Caffè Camparino, the famous Milanese bar founded by Gaspare Campari himself. Its bitter and balanced taste quickly seduced aperitif lovers, and it became a classic in Italian cafes and bars.
