History
The White lady cocktail is said to have been created by Harry MacElhone, creator of the famous Harry's New York Bar in Paris. He would have created this cocktail in 1919, before he arrived in Paris, when he worked at Ciro's Club in London. The dosage of each ingredient is debatable today, some make the recipe by equalizing the Cointreau with the lemon juice.
In the first publications of the recipe and first in "The Savoy Cocktail Book" by Harry Craddock in 1930, triple sec and lemon juice are in equal doses.
