History

The Tinto de Verano is one of the most popular cocktails in Spain, it is always made with red wine, lemon/lime soda and citrus fruits.

Tinto de Verano means summer red wine and for good reason, the Spaniards have found a way through this cocktail to be able to drink red wine in a more consistent during the summer period, thanks to the lemonade which has the advantage of being very refreshing.

The Tinto de verano started to become popular in Spain in the 1960s but its origins date back to the 1920s. The creator of the tintos de verano is said to be Federico Vargas Madero, owner of the Venta de las Vargas hostel in El Brillante, a neighborhood of Córdoba. This drink is also called Vargas for this reason.
