Recipe

For 1 person
2 cl scotch wisky
2 cl vermouth rosso
2 cl Cherry brandy
2 cl squeezed orange juice

How to make

Technique: shaker / Glass: martini / Type: short drink (8cl) / Time: 4 mn
  1. Shake scotch whisky, vermouth rosso, cherry brandy and orange juice with a few ice cubes.

  2. Strain into a martini glass.

  3. Insert a slice of orange.

History

The Blood and Sand is a cocktail made with equal parts Scotch whisky, cherry brandy, vermouth rosso and orange juice. It first appeared in Harry Craddock's famous Savoy Cocktail Book (1930), and later in Boothby's World Drinks and How to Mix Them by William T. Boothby (1934).
