About
The El Diablo cocktail originated in the 1940s in the United States at the Tijuana Bar, an establishment known for its creativity in mixology and its influence from Mexican culture. Some attribute the creation of the cocktail to a bartender named Gene Sulit, who worked at the Tijuana Bar in New York City. The idea behind the cocktail was to offer an exotic and spicy alternative to the gin or rum-based cocktails popular at the time.
