History

The Rum Swizzle appears in the Old Mr. Boston De Luxe Official Bartender Guide cookbook (1941 edition). It's an iconic Bermuda cocktail.

The recipe has evolved a bit since 1941, it was originally made with dark rum, lime juice, sparkling water and Angostura Bitter.

Some establishments add orange juice and pineapple juice in the Rum Swizzle, Cocktail Mag does not recommend it because the swizzle spirit is lost and the Rum Swizzle is no longer really one in this case.

* The Swizzle is the name of a stick used to mix the ingredients in a glass, to do this you have to hold the stick between the palms of each hand and act as if you are rubbing your hands to rotate the stick.
