History
The cocktail Fluffy Ruffles is a short drink composed of rum and red vermouth in equal parts, it appeared in 1917 in Recipes for Mixed Drinks by Hugo R Ensslin . Hugo calls for precisely using Cuban rum for this recipe.
"Fluffy Ruffles" is a rather strange name for a cocktail. This name could be taken from a musical comedy by Hattie Williams which was launched at the Criterion Theatre in New York in the fall of 1908, "Fluffy Ruffles" was also a 1919 musical composition composed by George Hamilton Green.
