History
The Blue Devil cocktail first appeared in a 1935 book in the Old Mr. Boston DeLuxe Official Bartender's Guide.
Originally, the Blue Devil recipe consisted of gin, lemon juice, maraschino and Crème Yvette. The Crème Yvette having been de-marketed, blue curaçao came to replace it.
The color of the Blue Devils turns between blue and green, the choice of blue curaçao used can influence the color of this cocktail.
