For 1 person
5 cl brandy (Cognac...)
10 cl sparkling water
How to make
Technique: straight to the glass / Glass: highball / Type: long drink (15cl) / Time: 2 mn

Half fill the glass with ice cubes.

Pour the brandy directly then the soda water.

Stir with a mixing spoon.
History
The Brandy and soda cocktail was published in 1862 in "How to mix drinks" by Jerry Thomas, this recipe is also called the Stone Wall or the Brandy Highball.
This cocktail and its recipe appear in the novels of P.G. Wodehouse and in particular in 1923 in "The Inimitable Jeeves" where Bertrie Wooster orders his valet Jeeves a "brandy and soda" with not too much soda.
