Baltimore Egg Nogg cocktail: an excellent grog for the weakened and the tuberculous.

Recipe

For 1 person
1 tsp sugar
1 egg
3 cl Madeira wine (otherwise port)
3 cl Cognac or Jamaican rum of your choice
5 cl milk
1 pinch grated nutmeg

How to make

👉 shaker / 🥃 highball / 🍹 long drink (15cl) / ⏱️ 5 mn
  1. Separate the egg yolk and white.

  2. Whip the egg white with the powdered sugar and the grated (or powdered) nutmeg.

  3. Beat egg yolk.

  4. Shake well the egg white and yolk beaten with the other ingredients of the recipe.

  5. Strain into the glass.

History

The Baltimore Egg Nogg cocktail is a variation of the classic Egg Nogg cocktail, they both first appeared in 1862 in Jerry Thomas' "How to mix drinks". As stated above, the recipe originally calls for choosing between brandy and rum, as many do you can perfectly incorporate the 2 ingredients by dividing them equally.
